Sizes

Our motifs are offered in five different sizes. For the online download three sizes: S, M and L are available. Images in sizes XL and XXL are only on demand available. You could order these extralarge sizes here.

Rights-Managed (RM) Images

Our simple licensing model for the sizes S, M and L calculates itself only from two factors: the duration of use and the size of the image. Print run, territory or other publication factors, which are usually needed by other image agencies, are completely omitted - this saves your time and costs.

If you are interested in RM-Images in sizes XL or XXL, we will be happy to calculate a price. Please fill out this Online-Request.

Pricing Royalty-Free (RF) Images
 One third of our image material can be ordered as Royalty-Free images, that means licensing ay RF enables you to use the image for all needs, without any limitation in time, print run or other criteria.

Your Rights of Use

All images on this website are protected artworks and under current copyright law. The image material found on this website can be used without licensing for layout and internal presentation only. All uses and publications in printed, digital or other visual formats need prior clearance and licensing through us. Licensing fees apply to all uses.

Royalty-Free (RF) Images
Licensing a 'Royalty-Free' image enables you to use an image for all needs with a single purchase, not depending on media, print run, placement or other publication factors. A one-time licensing fee will be charged according to the requested file size of an image.

Rights-Managed (RM) Images
Licensing 'Rights-Managed' means licensing rights for a particular use. The license fee depends at least on two factors: image size and use duration. You will be asked to submit information concerning your intended use of the pictures, which will determine the scope of usage rights granted. An invoice will be issued according to the requested rights.

Rights managed images can also be licensed exclusively for an industry or territory. This way you can avoid clashes or overlapping uses within the same industry or territory.

Model- and Property-Releases
In general we have all necessaries Model Releases for all our pictures. Property Releases regarding displayed names, trade marks or artworks in general are not included in our licences. You can find model and property release information online in the detail-info window of each image. We uses reasonable efforts to ensure the correctness and reliability of these release informations, but we cannot make any warranty to the correctness of this information or if a release is required or not for your intended use. You are solely responsible for determining a addionally release is required for your intended use or not. You are responsible for obtaining such release(s). If you are not sure as to whether an additional release or licence must be obtained prior to use, you shall contact us or a competent expert.

Quality

[ apply pictures ] have very high quality requirements. Digital material will accepted only 'not interpolated' in professional quality - analog images will digitalized with high end scanners (42 BIT, 9600 dpi).

All pictures are carefully corrected by hand and in genral available ready-to-use without any additional corrections. This ensures an optimal color fidelity.

Image-Sizes

Every motif exists in five image sizes. For the online download the three sizes: S, M and L are available. Images in sizes XL and XXL are only on demand available. On our Photo-CDs every motif is available at least in sizes XL and M.

What ist apply pictures ?

[ apply pictures ] is a new picture agency, located in Germany/Europe. We are a sub-division of the APPLY DESIGN GROUP, which is well-known for innovative and high-quality design products.

We see us as an up-to-date alternative to the established picture-agencies and photo-CD suppliers. Our visual vocabulary is fuzzy, rough, authentic, wild, bizarre.

But we combine the spontaneous and emotional imagery with technological expertise: The pictures are digitalized using high-end scanners, carefully corrected by hand and color-adapted accordingly.

In contrast to the trend of many competitors, we rely not on quantity. We offer with our well-appointed portfolio and our On-Demand-Productions a real alternative to high-quality commercial photography.


Licences / Your Rights of Use

What is the difference between 'royalty-free' and 'rights-managed' image material?

These are two terms from the picture-agency industry.

With 'royalty-free' or 'license-free' you could accept that means as much as 'free from licenses' or 'free from use conditions'. Far from it! Also 'royalty-free' images are subject to specific use conditions. But, which is now the difference?

The picture-agency industry wanted to suggest with 'license-free' the fact that this kind of images subject 'less' use conditions than 'licensed' or 'rights-manged' material.

It means that the 'use fee' is uniquely paid for an image and the image can be used for different purposes - without restrictions in time, circulation-area or other terms. Often 'royalty-free' image material is older or not in the same quality as licensed material.


What are the use restrictions of 'royalty-free' image material?

Licensing a royalty-free image enables you to use an image for all needs with a single purchase, not depending on media, print run, placement or other publication factors.

But normally the most manufacturers forbid illegal, criminal and pornografic use of images. Here there are frontiers and the manufacturers naturally varies a little in its conditions. Some manufacturers do ot allowed the use of an image which shows a person in controversial themes (e.g. HIV, illness, drug abuse), others do not permit the use for political parties. Here can help only an exact view into the license conditions of the manufacturers.


Why royalty-free photo-CDs may not to be resold?

With the acquisition of a photo-CD a transfer of rights takes place to the buyer. The resale of these rights is usually forbidden. This procedure will retain constantly from all royalty-free offerers. Otherwise the images of the same CD (which is paid only one time) could be used by several people. That is not in the sense of the photographers, who must live from their work.
